This supernova was discovered while it was still brightening. At that time it was still faint. As of March 1 it is 13.6 magnitude. M100 is one of the brighter members of the Virgo cluster of galaxies. It is currently well placed for observation. Users of 4-inch or larger scopes under dark skies should be able to detect both the supernova and galaxy. |
