NGC 7094 is a fine planetary nebula located just a few degrees away from
the exquisite globular cluster M15. This relatively old planetary
has been glimpsed in scopes as small as 8-inches with an OIII or UHC filter
in place. Look for a faint, roundish haze surrounding a 13th magnitude
central star.
In my 18-inch f/4.5 I
was able to detect this planetary as a slight haze surrounding a star at
94x. The addition of an OIII filter really brought it out, making
it much more obvious. At 250x it appeared much larger, but more difficult
to detect, even with the OIII in place. It may have been an optical
illusion, but it appeared at this magnification that the edges of this
round, low surface brightness planetary are a bit brighter than the rest.
All-in-all, I enjoyed this one very much!
