NGC 2112

Also known as OCl 509 and Collinder 76, this 9th magnitude open cluster contains about a hundred stars within an 11' region. Don't expect to see much, however, as this relatively loose cluster lies in a fairly rich field and most of the stars are faint. In a 6" scope, look for a smattering of only a few 12th-13th magnitude stars. Nonetheless, this cluster and its surrounding star field is worth the look.

The view in a 6" at 50x. North is down, East is to the right.

This image was generated from the Palomar Sky Survey using SkyView and shows a 0.5o area.
